Choose a multi-destination flight for your trip abroad

Whether you're planning a vacation or a business trip, you'll need to prepare your stay by booking your journey and accommodation as far in advance as possible. It's not always easy to find the right solutions to make the most of each day while keeping costs down. It's very common to fly round-trip, as it's much cheaper than a one-way ticket. But have you thought about multi-destination flights?

Why opt for this type of flight organization, and does it suit your travel budget? Here are a few tips to help you prepare for your trip abroad by easily choosing your plane tickets at a lower cost!

What is a multi-destination flight?

Before you start looking for available multi-destination flights for your next trip, we'd like to give you a few pointers on the subject. A multi-destination flight is, as the name suggests, a journey by plane to several destinations. You arrive at one airport, but return to another. So you'll have two airports on your return flight. To take advantage of this, you'll need to look for an airline ticket with a multi-destination option. This will enable you to select your place of arrival and indicate your preference for the return journey to France. You'll then have several proposals depending on the dates you choose to book a multi-destination flight.

This kind of practice can help you limit the amount of transport you need during your stay. If you need to travel to several cities, it's a good idea not to have to return to your original city to set off again, but rather to catch your plane in the last city you visited.

However, you'll need to prepare your trip carefully to make sure you select the right city for both arrival and departure!

Why choose a multi-destination flight when planning your business trip or vacation?

Whether you're traveling for business or pleasure, it pays to plan a multi-destination flight if you need to move around during your stay abroad. It takes time to organize, but it can save you a lot of money.

In fact, you won't need to plan a return trip to the arrival airport if you select a flight departing from an airport close to your destination. You'll also save time by not having to plan a day or more with accommodation to get to the airport if you end your stay next to another airport offering homeward travel.

However, when booking your multi-destination flight, you may not have much choice when it comes to airlines. Indeed, if you opt for this type of trip, you'll often have to make your journey with different airlines for the outward and return legs. On the other hand, you can book a round-trip ticket to avoid taking two one-way flights, which are often more expensive than a round-trip multi-destination ticket.

Planning a trip by selecting a round-trip flight with different airlines can therefore bring you advantages in terms of reducing your budget and saving time to reach an airport at the end of your stay. But that doesn't mean it's an ideal solution, because multiple flights also mean you run the risk of unforeseen circumstances!

What to consider before booking your multi-destination flight

Before you start booking your round-trip flight with different airlines, take the time to read the terms and conditions of each ticket. This will help you to understand the guarantees offered and to look for additional travel insurance for your various journeys during your business or private stay.

It's important to take out flight and baggage insurance with each airline you use, and not just with the airline responsible for your outward journey, for example. On the other hand, in the event of a cancelled or delayed flight, you will often be able to obtain a refund of your tickets or compensation, depending on the situation, without having to take out additional insurance. In fact, the subscriptions you need to take out are those covering unforeseen events, such as an accident or illness.

So before you leave, make a list of your needs and look for the most suitable contracts to protect you during your stay. All that's left to do is book your return flight with different airlines.
