Akuo is an independent global renewable energy producer and developer. The company operates across the entire value chain, from project development, financing, and construction to operation. As of the end of 2019, Akuo had invested over €2.5 billion, with more than 1.2 GW of capacity either in operation or under construction. Headquartered in Paris, France, Akuo has a presence in over 15 countries and employs more than 350 people. The company is committed to sustainable energy solutions, contributing to a greener future by focusing on wind, solar, hydroelectric, and other renewable power projects.

Challenges

Akuo has experienced rapid growth in recent years, with a fast-increasing number of employees. However, by still using a traditional travel agency, its travel accounting and reporting capabilities were no longer keeping up with the pace.

New travelers were added to the travel platform one by one through a long and tedious manual process. They had to be linked to cost centers, and trips needed to be billed with the correct project codes and legal entities, which was nearly impossible. Invoices were getting lost! Additionally, tracking employee movements had become a nightmare. Data mapping between the travel agency and a security service provider was riddled with errors. Akuo had to invest extra effort to ensure employee safety, as it did not have access to accurate real-time traveler data.

Akuo urgently needed a tool that could seamlessly integrate with its HR, accounting, and risk management systems to streamline and harmonize the entire process.

Results

Fairjungle came on board in January 2020 to simplify reporting, accounting, and the integration of travel risk management solutions. Thanks to automated processes with no manual work, setup errors were eliminated. Users were properly assigned from the start, and data reconciliation became much easier.

With Fairjungle's universal API, Akuo was able to easily replicate its configurations within the Fairjungle system. Once the API integration was complete, Fairjungle could automatically pull information related to employee management, cost centers, billing entities, and more. Invoicing and reporting issues were also solved: all travel invoices are centralized, and with a simple script, users can automate invoice uploads directly into Akuo’s ERP.

Additionally, the connection with GardaWorld Security Services, Akuo's security provider, was streamlined. GardaWorld can now continuously connect to Fairjungle’s API to ensure the global safety and tracking of Akuo’s travelers, who are also monitored via a comprehensive dashboard.

After just a few hours of integration and setup, everything was in place. Akuo no longer needs to manually update traveler profiles, as they are now automatically pulled from the HR database. End-of-month invoices are automatically loaded into their ERP, and travel management is no longer a hot administrative topic. With an estimated 80% time savings in booking and managing travel, Akuo employees can finally focus on what truly matters: growing their core business.

"Everything is automatically synchronised and integrated into our systems, from the passenger database to the invoices."

Camille Deligny, Duty of Care Manager, Akuo.
